Helloooo Virginia!! As you may know, we're out in the lovely state of Virginia this summer where Andy has a great job doing sales. Here's a little recap of our trip across the country!

Welcome to Wyoming!

The first night, we stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming where we grabbed some dinner and checked out the town a little bit. This is a statue by the capitol building. Then we spent the night in the car at a truck stop just outside of Nebraska. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad.

Here's Andy in front of the Nebraska sign. It's about 4:30
in the morning. It's hard to sleep long in the car...

Next stop, Scotts Bluff! We got there right after sunrise
and got some neat pictures of the rocks.

Some cool rocks and some wagons

The street lights in Nebraska are sideways!!

After Scotts Bluff, we headed to Chimney Rock. This stop was
inspired by Andy's "Oregon Trail" days as a kid.

We made some friends while we were taking pictures at
Chimney Rock. There were six or seven deer that were
wandering up the hill and kept stopping and staring at
us while we were taking pictures.

Then we headed to Evan and Whitney's house in Nixa, Missouri. Sadly, we didn't take any pictures while we were there, but we had fun chilling with them and baby Jaycee for a day or so. It was nice to have a little break from driving. Then Evan told us that we should stop at this candy factory beside the highway on our way out of town. There were probably seven or eight signs for this place in less than a mile on the side of the highway. It was huge and had more salt water taffy than I've ever seen! So we got a big bag of lots of different flavors to snack on for the rest of the trip.

After Missouri, we went through Illinois and had the chance to stop at Carthage Jail where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum were martyred.

After Carthage, we hit up Nauvoo for the afternoon.
(my skirt looks poofy, but it was just really windy)

The beautiful Nauvoo Temple. Unfortunately, the temple closed
about an hour before we got there, so we weren't able to go,
but we still took some pictures.

We also saw the tombstones of Hyrum, Joseph and Emma Smith.
We got there kind of late in the afternoon, so a lot of the other
things in the town were closed, but we still got to walk
around for a little while.
After our stop in Nauvoo, we spent the night in a hotel and then headed on to Virginia the next day. We were going to take a little detour up to Gettysburg, but it was getting kind of late, so I guess we'll save that trip for a weekend sometime this summer!
That looks like quite the trip....and now it's time to plan another...come visit!
